• Hervé Renard: I’ll Quit, If That’s What Ziyech Fans Want

(Morocco World News) Hervé Renard, the coach of Morocco’s national football team, has expressed discontent over fans’ chanting of Moroccan-Dutch footballer Hakim Ziyech’s name during the friendly game against the Netherlands.

On Wednesday Morocco was beaten 2-1 by the Netherlands. Ziyech fans chanted his name throughout the friendly, upsetting the French coach.

After the game, Renard told Moroccan media that he did not want to spend his time hearing Ziyech’s name in every match and said that he is ready to resign to make the fans happy.

“I am ready to resign so that fans of Ziyech could see their player wearing the national team jersey again”

In a pre-match conference the Frenchman revealed to Moroccan media that he had called on Ziyech to support his national team and did not understand why the footballer did not show up.

When the Moroccan team was leaving the field at the end of the game’s first half, winger Nabil Dirar showed his anger at Moroccan spectators.

“He did not want to show up,” said the FC Monaco player, angrily looking up at the audience. He cursed them on his way out.

Herve Renard called on Ziyech in May to defend his Moroccan jersey in a friendly match against the Netherlands.

The youngster however declined the invitation, claiming that as long as Herve is the coach, he will never play for the Moroccan national football team.

Renard, had excluded AFC Ajax’s star, Ziyech from participating in the African Cup of Nations, which shocked his Moroccan fans, especially after being awarded best player in Holland in 2016.

Several Moroccans have denounced this decision, finding it inconceivable that he was not summoned while other, far less competent players, were. The feud between the player and coach is still fresh.
