(Metro.co.uk) Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of Marouane Chamakh and Kieran Gibbs ahead of Sunday's north London derby with Tottenham, after the duo picked up knocks in training this week.
Chamakh limped out of the Gunners 5-0 win over Norwich in the reserve league last night, with a recurrence of a toe problem that has troubled him in training in recent days.
The Moroccan lasted just 30 minutes of the clash at Carrow Road, in which goals from Park Chu-Young, Benik Afobe, Yossi Benayoun and a brace from Andrey Arshavin saw an experienced Arsenal line-up cruise to victory.
He is now expected to have a scan on the injury in the next 24 hours, but speaking shortly after the full-time whistle, reserve coach Neil Banfield seemed optimistic that it was not serious.
'Marouane had a bad toe coming into this one but to be fair to him he wanted to give this game a go. But he could only last for half an hour and he had to come off,' said Banfield.

(Sky Sports) Younes Belhanda has offered Montpellier hope in their efforts to keep the highly-rated midfielder past the end of the season.
The 21-year-old is believed to be attracting plenty of interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with his potential having been spotted by scouts at leading clubs across Europe.
Belhanda has been part of the first-team set-up at Montpellier since 2009 and is already an established Morocco international.
It was expected to be only a matter of time before he departed for pastures new, with French clubs finding it increasingly difficult to retain the services of their most prized assets.
Belhanda has, however, stated that a summer departure is by no means guaranteed.
With Montpellier currently battling Paris St Germain for the Ligue 1 title, he says qualification for the UEFA Champions League could convince him to stay.
"Every player wants to play in the Champions League," he told L'Equipe TV.
"If we are lucky enough to play in that competition at Montpellier, I believe I will be part of that."

(Metro.co.uk) Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has relegated flop forwards Marouane Chamakh, Park Chu-Young and Andrey Arshavin to the clubs reserve ranks this week, after telling the out-of-favour trio they must work harder if they want to feature in Sunday's crunch North London derby with Tottenham.
However, while the knives are clearly out in force, the Frenchman maintains that Arsenal can rescue their season by securing Champions League football for next term, but recognises that he needs to revitalise several highly paid yet under performing members of his team first.
They include struggling forwards Marouane Chamakh and Park Chu-Young, who featured as a strike duo in the Carling Cup earlier in the season, but are now pencilled in to start against Norwich City reserves on Tuesday evening, with the mandate that they must improve if they want to be considered for Sunday's North London derby with Tottenham.
The decision is seen as Wenger's last throw of the dice in a bid to transform Chamakh, Park and Arshavin, with the hope that they will see the climb down as a challenge, ahead of a vital run of games for the club.
Elsewhere, Arsenal are expected to give a run out to Carl Jenkinson against Norwich, as he completes his come back from a stress fracture to his back.

101goals.com - PSG 2 – Montpellier 2 (Ligue 1, February 19, 2012) Chelsea old boy Alex put PSG in front with a swerving free-kick in the top of the table clash in Ligue 1. Montpellier drew level just before the break thanks to a header from Younes Belhanda. John Utaka looked to have won it for the second placed side on 82 but Guillaume Hoarau equalised with two minutes to go.

(Sporting Life) Rennes midfielder Youssouf Hadji has returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with silverware on his mind.
The fifth-placed side, 11 points behind leaders Paris St Germain going into Sunday's match at St Etienne, may be out of the running for the Ligue 1 title, with a Champions League place a more realistic ambition.
But with a place in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France secured, a first trophy since 1983's Ligue 2 success is on the minds of the players.
Hadji told the club's official website: "It would be a beautiful thing for both the public and players to win a trophy. The public has expected a trophy for a while, so why not this season?
"It would allow us to push on."
The forward has been injured since returning from Gabon but is looking forward to getting back in action and teaming up with January signing Mevlut Erding.

Salaams, we have strikers that miss chances -worst result = we may not progress to our target BUT we remain unbeaten and good attackers will ,inshAllah, appear. Bad goalkeeper = we are humiliated, don't qualify for any tournament , up and coming future stars born in Europe , with a choice of playing for their country of birth or the nt of their parents -Morocco- , will choose the colours of the better prospects.. Also, defenders and playmakers that are not confident about their goalkeeper will not attack so much and just defend, defend and more defend - result = soak up so much pressure and possession will be lost frequently and voila , we are 3-0 down. It starts with the goalkeeper- sort that part out and everything else will fall into place. Mexico 1986 , we had the best goalkeeper= first Arab and African side to advance 2 the second round- how, 2 draws and one victory. We could have lost by 2 or 3 goals to England had we not a brilliant keeper like Zaki and this is why we need a decent keeper if we are to see a strong nt.
Anyone that thinks morocco can win and do great things with lemyaghri is fooling themselves and not being objective, because lemyaghri is an idiot goalkeeper and absolutely horrible. If you don't believe this ask yourself why lemyaghri hasn't gone to a good club or even a middle east club??
i agree with you maroc. but again curve your just another disapointed man. maybe you should watch all games all over again. yes i know lamyaghri made mistake and i know his not taht good but i won't blame everything on him tho?? it's a keeper false and defends false and even strikers false for not scoring goals like hadji did against tunisia. im sorry but the most player that piss me off was hadji he didn't even count in the game he was like butter what a player the kids plah in street would of play better than National team. and it's the truth
The defenders stand around because they know that the keeper is not good enough. So they aren't going to play 100%
To be honest, its not entirely Lamyaghri's fault, as the defenders should have helped him out a bit because most of the time the defenders were standing still like lamposts. So defenders are also to blame, if they did their job right , we would have not exited the AFCON that quickly. this needs improvement in addition to the goalkeeper place. A question to the manager: why put on a crap team when you know the best players are on the bench? It dont make no sense. This team is going down the drain if the philosophy doesnt change of Gerets
Hey souf let's pretend the entire team needs to be replaced except for lemyaghri. How do you explain the goal he let in against tazania from 40 meters?? Lem yaghri is the biggest problem in the team, yes hadji should be replaced, chamakh too, el kadourri bye bye, kharja out, aliou out. But the goalkeeper still is the biggest problem we have. It doesn;t matter if the team plays great for 89 minutes he makes us lose in the 90th. Even wydad's 2nd goalkeeper bounou is better than lemyaghri. I said before the CAN morocco was out in the 1st round because of lemyaghri and guess what, that wasn't a hard thing to see when your goalkeeper gets scored on by tanzania
i kinda agreed with hamada and m1106 but i disagree with brother curve for blaming everything on lamyaghri or a keeper. yes he made some mistakes and yes blocked some goals that should of been a goals so it's every players responsibilty what you think about hadji??? if he would of scored against tunisia when he was right in front of net and miss it?? what you say about that curve?? to me all you care is about lamyaghri tha's all??? come on look around we need some changes bro and another thing i can't think of one good keeper?? name one for me and plz don't used the same keeper against niger he is worse that lamyaghri
Salaams bros.Brother Hamada , Moroccan football isn't dead and buried just yet. Yes i accept your point about our latest performance at the CAF, but then we haven't ever been a success in African soccer since winning it in Addis Ababa . We did well at the CAF in Tunisia ,but guess what - we had a decent keeper in Fouhami and some really good defenders and playmaker[s]. A good keeper will always make a difference to a team. When defenders are not relaxed about the keeper's abilities , they start to panic and just look to get rid of the ball, and end up conceding throw-ins and free kicks..I feel sorry for Lamyaghri , but that doesn't detract from the fact that he ,along with Karkouri, eliminated us from the Germany world cup, and the last world cup. I,m sorry but, Lamyaghri HAS to go. Good keepers will always make or break a team by making vital saves , help his defenders to cut spaces for the opposition , and of course , encourage the morale of his team mates. So our football isn't dead at all. If that was the case , we could say that our football was dead after Mexico 1986 , or, after France 1998?. Every team has its ups and down.. The really good thing is that we Moroccans are very patriotic and we won't allow our football to die. Our time will come soon inshAllah.
With a keeper morocco would have made it to the final. If lemyaghris had stopped the two freekicks we would have topped the group
Curve do you know what are you talking about??? this is the same players we have on CAF??? let's just pretend we didn't have a lamyaghri?? what does make it different?? we didn't win any game expet againts the weakest team in the world which is niger???? and only beat them by 1?? are you kidding me?? offensive were very weak on CAF. we were depending on kharja well guess what guys kharja is getting old and he will b out soon like i said again morocco is over stop dream and get real especially you curve and stop blaming on keeper you need to reliaze its the whold national team responsibility
Hamada you're delusional!! We need just a keeper;), then we become a completely different team, that's it. We have 7 great players, benatia, el kaoutari, belhanda, taarabt, boussoufa, assaidi, amrabat. Just need 3 and a keeper
i don't care if you bring me the best coach in the world. with these kinda players we have in morocco or in europe that r moroccans there nothing but failure period thye not playing for flag of morocco anymore. moroccan soccer died in 2004. and what i meant with that is like when person died he doesn't come back alive and that's what happening to morocco that's it and that's the reality you can sit here dream all you want that you gonna make it to WC but were not period maybe you should grab your other fav country soccer and make it your country if you love soccer. real talk here.
Gerets is the best coach in africa. He will get morocco to world cup2014. He learned a good lesson from the CAN
Salaams 2 all. I agree with Curve about Moroccan nt's .They will use the post as a way of earning lots of money - plus - he won't stand up against the FRMF whenever they want him 2 select certain players , instead of the best players . The thing regarding Chamak is very sad .He was a really good player- unfortunately, he went from a club-Bordeaux - that was starting him at 97% of the season ; he is transferred to Arsenal and he then is kept on the subs bench. Why?Well when you have so many good players , in excess of need [ which Arsenal has] , there is lots of competition and so Chamakh fell out of favour. And so he gets more demoralised and loses his touch. This seems 2 happen to all our players - i.e Salahuddin Bassir and others- They all go to big european teams and then they're dropped to the subs bench. Bousouffa stayed with his team and was the highest goal scorer in the Belgian league. Yes i know the Belgian league is not serie A , but at least he has been playing regularly and staying fit .
Bouderbala wants the NT for himself to make money. We don't need that, we need a coach that has made his money and wants to achieve glory not the other way around.
well why not curve ,if bouderbala is good to take over ,good luck to him he is morocan and he was a top player on his days ,we all shud wish him luck !
please dont mention that name lamyagri ,he is nothing just a shit keeper who is worth not even a penny or 1 dirham ,shame on wydad to have him as their number 1./.........
Lemyaghri was selected:) from wydad. I personaly want a better keeper, and less frenchies. Because it's easy to succeed in the french league and not somewhere else. Perfect example chamakh!
my suggestions are for the trainer eric gerets to select players from abroad and from our league .we had 2 teams that reach african club cups finals ,yet none of their players was selected that shows the ignorance of the federation and gerets ! time to wake up and learn from the mistake ,stop this nosense ,we had enough of this mess in our national side !! hope u all agree with me fellow readers !!!!!!
herve renard = WOW:). Great coach
Salaam bros. Hopefully Gerets sorts the keeper problem in time inshAllah. There is though a problem in Moroccan football regarding the status of the goalkeeping position . The problem is that being a goalkeeper has the stigma attached to it , that somehow its not an important position and will not get him a transfer to a big club [money ,fame etc etc], and so youngsters don't want to be a goalie?! Almost like a second rate position compared to the strikers/midfield and so on. This way of thinking has to be prevented from an early age - ie at primary school by the sports tutors. This will benefit our NT team in the future. Many epic matches have been settled by the ability of the goalkeeper and his defence - especially when the two teams are equallly talented. Khou Curve , i agree 101% with your view . I just hope that Gerets and the Federation read some of the opinion and views offered by my fellow patriots on this forum., and act on these opinions.
curve at first i thought you was too tough on lamyagri because we only conceided to two goal in all the qualifiers but i agree with you 100% now. we have great players but we dont fit in with african teams but i know if we qualify for the world cup we will be on par with teams like croatia and france.
hamada you're wrong. We have a golden generation of players since the 70's, el hamdaoui is amazing, belhanda is amazing, taarabt is a genius, benatia is on manu's wishlist, assaidi is the best winger we've had in 10 years, and boussoufa is like iniesta. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS OUR GOALKEEPER!!! No keeper, no team.
dc. With a keeper it eould be a different story. Spain and argentina both have great keepers, brazil the same. All the great teams. You can't compete with keepers like lemyaghri or jarmouni, or bagui, or fouhami and that's what we've had. With a keeper morocco is in the top 20 teams in the world
if your looking for those players i suggest you go support spain or argentina. we have good players its just our players are too european for africa and our home based players arnt as good as they used to be. ive already forgtten about 2012 cu of nations, all im thinking about is the upcoming friendly and south africa 2013.
blah blah blah morocco with no Zaki is like morocco is not going nowhere. and even if we do have zaki the best we can do is just qualify for WC after that we will disqualify on first around on groub just like on CAF, reality is a reality we don't have players period. we don't have skils. we don't have nothing we need players lexample like messi. ronaldo, puyol, XAVI, drogba etc.. if you wanna get anywhere. the truth hurt sometimes but is good to face reality. Moroccan soccer is sinking. peace all
when i said 'only 2 goalkeepers in the goal' goal is world
First we need to sort the defenders that help the goalkeeper, we need a top notch defender because they are the people that are going to stop the goals conceding for Morocco, once the defenders are sorted, we need strikers that could actually score. If we sort them two categories then we would have a winning oppourtunity, as for the goal-keeper, i doubt that there isnt going to be only 2 moroccan goal-keepers in the goal. If thats true then just stick a kid or a cab-driver in goals, surely he'll do good than Lamyaghri.
To be honest, we dont need to have moroccan players who are actually have a morocco passport or what ever htere is. We just need quality young fresh players no matter what descent there from. We Just need PLAYERS, quality players, players that can actually play football. OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW!!!
Surely there must be a decent goalkeeper of Moroccan descent in this big world . I cannot accept that Lamyaghri is our best keeper !!! Even if we need to bribe a good keeper to take up Moroccan citizenship -[ like the tounsiyat with their Clayton player ]-! Just please, please and more please , no more lamyaghri , Moroccan federation and mr Gerets ! Us , proud Moroccans , are fed up with been humiliated against teams we used to destroy . The only way for us to return to the forefront of African football is to stop conceding silly goals , especially in qualifiers for the world cup. Our NT has to be restructed beginning with the goalkeeper. In fact, just changing the keeper and 2 in the defence would be enough to start with . So please FRMF, do something about this situatrion - i really want , along with all my fellow patriots on this forum , our country at the next world cup .
Let's not push the panic button. The important thing is qulaifying and doing well in the world cup. But i do believe we definitely need a good keeper, and if that loser lemyaghri plays we should be eliminated and he will help
because i doubt that anyone would be the manager after the performance of the team.
If gerets goes who would replace him?
We'll see what the reaction is after this. If lemyaghri plays again, then gerets needs to go. Because it's the coach's job to find new talent
I completely agree with Arabzoe
Morocco needs to stop waiting for france spain holland belguim for players. (all the good moroccan players dont play for moroco rami, kaboul, felliani etc) Morocco need to start improving football in morocco, make the moroccan league stronger (look at turkey as an example they aint the best but they a decent team). about 15 years ago morocco had some great home grown players, naybet, hadji, safri, chippo etc they all came from morocco an played in top leagues in europe. Can someone name me 1 moroccan player in the last 5 years that has left morocco an done well ? none really !
MORO INVESTMENT IN HOMEGROWN PLAYERSS :)
if you look athe 1986 squad every single one of them was from morocco.
DONT FORGET ABOUT BERGDICH LABYAD THEY BOTH CAN START FOR THE NATIONAL TEAM. WE REALLY NEED A GOALSCORER THOUGH . NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT EL HAMDOUI IS THE BEST GOAL SCORER HES AN ALL AROUND STRIKER . HE HAS A NICE GAME. FIST TOUCH SHOTS, CHIPS AND CURVED GOALS. CHAMACKH IS MORE OF A COMPELMENTARY STRIKER HES MORE INTO PASSING THEN SHOOTING. HE TOO UNSELFISH.
Saalaam 2 all. I just want to say that there are at least 3 players in the olympic squad that have really impressed me. There is Berrada - but - for me , one lad ,Bidaoui , who is looking really really good. I honestly feel that he could walk right into the senior team and make a big difference for us . I'm not the sort to exaggerate but this guy frightens defences ,and with Berrada , can unlock any defence !
Morocco soccer is one of hte best currently in Africa top 3. We just need a keeper that gives us a chance not some loser that can't keep a freekick from 40 meters from going in and knows how to set up a wall
you can sit here and talk all day but morocco is over that's it we have no players we have no chance africans r catching up n getting better everyday and we gettin worse everyday that is true honest answer. time to pray for allah cuz moroccan soccer is sinking
Farahate hermach is shit!!! Where does he play currently? What has he done for morocco? He's no top quality defender and he doesn't have the physique or stamina to play in africa. El kaoutari is twice the defender that hermach or kantari is. One of the reasons benatia didn't play well is because el kaoutari wasn't partnered with him
i think el kaddouri and basser played good at the afcon but benatia gave away some key freekicks that led our elimination. of course the keeper needs to go and hadji, neither el arabi or chamakh is good enough up front bt i prefer chamakh. i think leavng our best player taarabt on the bench didnt help either, gerets tried tactics and line ups that didnt work so i think we should go out there every time with our strongest 11.
CURVE a good team is built with strong solid deffenders and good goal keeper ,and let me remind u that hermach is a top quality player if u ever watch him playing ....!!!!
Dont worry... I think after the Olympic Games, we will see many from that squad in the A-team if they dose well.. I think the only problem we really have is the goal keeper.. We have some ok strikers but they arent in form and thats a problem. But we all know that a player can quickly get his form back..
Our defence is not really the problem. It's the keeper and strikers. Benatia and el kaoutari are good, kantari and hermach suck.
that s right guys we need new blood in the team ,these players had so many chances to shine but they showed us that they are not good enough well they never been anyway ....gerets if he is good he need to start looking for some solid strong players in deffence plus high quality keeper ,not some micky mouse like lamyagri ! time to start building the team now not later !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think we need to clean out the team first before we can do anything. Chamakh, hadji and lemyaghri aren't going to get that done. It's probably time to say goodbye to elkaddouri, kharja, and basser
i think we can win all our home matches in the 2014 WC qual. And we can do that we have a good chance.. the away matches is Moroccos problem.
wc is getting difficult for us to qualify is because our players are weak and not strong like the african ,and not fighters on the pitch ...... our players lose the ball easily and cheaply ,and add to that the keeper is there to help them not his team ,it seems everytime we need a win ,they lamyagri to make sure that never happen ,well obviously guys don't hold ur breath ,can see our boys going the wc unless they change there attitude and have the fighting spirit and the will to win !!!!! and that comes by working hard and i mean hard !!!!!
Kho Souf , agree 100% that we really need to progress in the wc ,but, i have to say that we've been away from the wc so loooong that just getting there will ease some of the pain lol !
for some reason i feel like morocco is giong to qualify for world cup in brazil but heres a thing we will loose again on group if that's the case than i don't morocco to qualify to world cup at all. morocco need to take us to quater final atleast or don't even bother
yes guys we need to play the big boys in africa and test our abilty against them and build on from there ,there is no point playing weak teams .....As for the coach this is his doom or gloom time ,he need to bring strong confident players .
Was it Gerets choice to pick burkina faso? If so, that's a disgrace we should play ghana or nigeria or even south africa. burkina faso is no test.
Personally, I would like to see two friendlies before the gambia game, because I.C. has been playing friendlies while at the can. Hopefully, amsif will be our #1 now, and the 03' generation chamakh, hadji, basser, aliou, kaddouri, will be out.
We have a friendly by the end of this month agaisnt Burkina Faso. We start the World cup qualifiers in June against Gambia away and a week later against Ivory Coast at home. May allah be with us
When is our next game. I hope to see a completely different team inchaallah
Kkout , Zaki the best goalkeeper we ever had - i'd go as far to say ,the best goalkeeper worldwide for at least a decade. I mention this purely to show just how important it is to have the very best keeper you can lay your hands on. Zaki in 1986 saved so many certain goals by anticipation and directing his defence. The midfield and forwards were able to go forward in confidence that their defence was strong. And as a kho mentioned , the starting point to improve our beloved country's team is from the g/keeper then the defenders etc.....in that order. Also , i'm not suggesting Naybet becoming the coach per se , but as a deputy to Gerets. Yes i know he hasn't any training credentials but what he does have is experience and is technically superior in defensive know how. He would be inspirational to the younger defenders as they'd respect him more , having been there and done it , so to speak.
Alloudi is the best Striker Morocco had for the past 10 years!!! What happened to him??
no keeper, no team
curve ,tdays football is more phisycal than technique ,even spain did lose a game against switzerland coz the swiss play a physical game ! and dnt compare us with spain coz w not as good as them ,just look at their league is the best in the world !
El hamdoui is the best striker we've had since el gharissi. I love him even more becuase he doesn't bow his head. Ajax is wrong, under jol he scored 13 goals in half the season would have hit 25 or 30 if not for de boer. Name one better striker than el hamdaoui that we have right now??? He's the only true killer, maybe el kabir is a close second
farahate. How do you explain our past qualifications if we're not physical enough? How did we qualify in 98'? or go to the final in 04'? How did spain lift the world cup? Their keeper!
THE PROBLEM IS THE GOALKEEPER, IF HE STOPPED 2 FREEKICKS we'd be in th 2nd round with 5 points.
guys you just have to admit we not good enough or strong enough to play football ,it is very simple ! you ve seen it ,you ve watched it in discust ....these players they need to work hard , train hard and get stronger in gym to be able to hold off these black africans ,our players all weak and they lost nearly every challenge for the ball ,it s simply not acceptable if you love your country to let someone out muscle you on the pitch and you can't do nothing about it ! it s problem for them but there is solutions if they clever enough ! but to me it looks like stupid poeple running the FMF !
what are you talking about? After this CAN its clear that we need a good striker, and El Hamdaoui could be our striker, but now he reminds with Ajax so we have to stick with the same attackers from CAN... and thats a problem... and about the national team you can keep talking and trashing them for months after that performence...
de boer must detest El Hamdaoui..this behaviour is inexcusable
why are we talking about al hamdaoui?? im still trying to get over it over morocco lost n than here you guys talking about al hamdaoui. you moroccans r something else. let the man play with ajax or chabab mohamadia who cares??? the attitude of these players in europe should not feel special because tha's why we out in africa cuz the european looks down on africa countrys and now look at gabon and ghana and ivory coast they are beast and they playing with there heart and not over some stupid money. this is making me sick
Attitude have nothing to do in this case... Ajax dosent use him he is on the reserve team, then it wud be normal to sell a player you dont use, but this looks like they are trying to punish him..The same happent this summer were he was close to join Espanyol...
El Hamdaoui must have a case to take Ajax to court and get released from his contart, can't he? But he's to blame for his poor atittude, he always had problems with his clubs and even with Morocco. If it wasn't because of his atittude and bad leg he could have been playing for a top European team and Morocco could have done much better with him in the team!
all youtalking about players from the local league. let me refresh your memory and remind you that a national team from local players did not qualify for the african cup for local players !!!!!!! so Why the hell you all think they can do better. Look at the olympic team, local players in the u23 north african tournamant a complete disaster!!! So do not just atrat talking none sense, everybody claims knowing soccer and taling tactics and what should and shouldn't be. our team lost it sucks it hurts but you got stand behind these boys. And i wanna say to those acuusing the players patriotic hearts, how dare you !!! why do you think france and belgium and the dutch wanna do the quota! its because they lost on Belhanda and elarabi and the olympic forward elalaoui that said no to france olympic team against israel and will be in london with us. All of you need to process your thiking before saying bunch of none sense. The only players in the local league that can add a difference to the national team are: boukhriss, Lkhalki, Hamdellah from safi, we do not have a star in the league that every team fears, face the truth our league is weak. Regardless look at the 1998 team henri michel team, the local players were starts, straight up stars: Bassir, Kamacho, Lakhlaj, abrami, lhadrioui, Saber, these players were absolutely legit, nad we don't have those players nowdays in the league period.
daaamn i hate Ajax.. Racist club number 1!!!
Souf- you can't say lemyaghri is better than amsif. Even if you're blind, you can hear the difference from others. Lemyaghri is the reason for this elimination. Otherwise we would have tied tunisia and gabon. Both freekicks are why we're out. Just look at how he set up the wall against gabon. What good keeper can't set up a wall?
Souf. I'm not rajaoui. I grew up a stade marocain fan, and my favorite players were el rais and ramadan. I don't like lemyaghri because he's a horrible keeper and always costs us, and I don't like naybet because I watched el biaz(lol) and when naybet played if he made a mistake it was a goal or penalty. Naybet is overrated and not educated enough to be coach, he can barely write his name, what coaching experience does he have? how many teams has naybet built or turned around? It's crazy to say naybet should be coach fo the NT, just give the team back to fakher it will be the same result.
M i agree with you 100%. yeah lamyaghri might b a clown i still think his better than amsif. i mean i've seen amsif nothing solid keeper even same as lamyaghri. first thing coach needs to do is come up with really good keeper than defense than mid than forward but whole team needs change. like i said earlier the only players should stay r benaatia, hermash, belhanda, taarabat, maybe bousoufa and rest throw them out
I like Gerets ,but somehow , he went down a little in my estimation when he selected the clown lamyaghri. Surely, he must have looked at his 1st choice keeper carefully before making his final decision? If he had looked properly he wouldn't have settled on that loser lam....!? Or is it because he was TOLD to select certain players regardless of his agreement? Naybet .......one of the best defender/captains of my time anyway. I believe that his input WITH Gerets would be very beneficial .Why? He was and is highly respected by team mates and fans alike. He has a lot of experience in marshalling the defence, preparing for set piece defending and he genuinely loves his country .i saw him risk life and limb winning 50/50 balls airborne or low level. If he has an ego , its because he was such a great player and he didn;t tolerate team mates who didn't care enough for the Moroccan shirt to go in hard if and when necessary. All the greatest players ,worldwide and past and present , have big ego. I prefer a great player/trainer with ego than a useless player/trainer with a polite demeanour. Apart from needing a proper keeper we have a traditional weak point on our right full back position- apart from Rossi from 1998 , we have had lots of danger from that side, ie the Gabon winning goal came from an error on that side. We also need somebody who can cause trouble and make chances in attacking midfield position - in fact someone who can interract with Kharja and can rush defences and split them. Yes i know we play the counter attack and speed is required but we also need guys that can keep possession until the rest of their team mates catch up.
curve i disagree as well. naybet is not ego sometime you need space. but with naybet as coach i don't really care but all i know that im gonna name few players that should never play for morocco again are HADJI, CHAMAKH, AMARABAT, BASSER, KADORI, KANTARI, CARCELA, LAMYAGHRI although he did do some good block but looks like can't catch easy balls so we need a better goal keeper these players should be banned and out out and start digging players from olyampic like barrada etc...
curve i disagree!! i think i know why you don't like lamyaghri and naybet not becuz they don't play well is because your are rajaoui. we here about morocco not about RCA n WAC so please stop your negative comments and be realistic.. because naybet was the man look how many time he was a captain?? he love his country yeah he was poor maybe not educated but he succeed and look how long he stayed in deportivo?? they loved so he knows what his doing he may not have coach experience but i bet he will do better than gerets
i don't think you know anything about football marokkana if you say el arabi wasn't good against gaboun ,hermach is numbrer 1 ,arabi n2 belhnda n3 the rest in the bin specially the keeper !
morocco has a great future. since november 2010 we have a new coach and we are improving game by game. and now we had one very bad game against gabun. shit happens. in the future i hope morocco will show the footbal they are able to play. only hermach and kharja played well against gabun. the other nine players did not play . especiallay el arabi was just fat. he eats to much in saudi arabia. just let gerets do his work and morocco will have sucsess
Naybet would be the worst coach ever. !st he has a huge ego, he doesn't even sign autographs, 2nd he has no coaching experience, he also has no education or diploma. Putting naybet as coach would be like having fakher again. Gerets is a good coach, he knows what he's doing and will begin cleaning the team. Bye bye hadji, chamakh, lemyaghri, el kaddouri, basser etc.
curve that s my opinion ,if im going to see a team that bring shame to moroccan football no one is doing a thing about it ! we suffer too much ! if w had team with players from just the morocan league im 100% sure will still be in it !
us morocans well known about our ability to play football and beat or match any team in the world like the 70s 80s and 90s team we had ,but now we just dont have strong players that can take and stand up to the pressure in the field ! all these players are weak and fake !
you know guys speaking of naybet i was thinking he should b the next coach of morocco :) maybe he bring luck again to morocco and he knows what his doing. so far the players i like n should stay. r benatia for sure and hermash and belhanda, aissati, al arabi, bousofa sometime can play sometimes he can't he should b the last choice if we got nobody. and than get berrada from olympic and hamdaoui that would know how to score
loll at souf! your right or maybe just bring naybet back atleast im sure he can still play better than stupid kantar or alaoui
hahaha souf you have me burst laughing loud but in one point i agree with you they would do better than there young shikhat
I got great idea bring all player in 98 and have them play again in 2015. if we didn't make it to final atleast they will do better than these fake youngster moroccans wanna be.
OTHER TEAMS LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES, BUT WE JUST KEEP ON RUNNING INTO THEM.
Salams khout , i totally agree with all the valid criticisms i've read. I mean , on a set-piece free kick , its surely the keeper who arranges his defence to cover the near and back post , no ? Lamyaghri neither covered the front post with a team mate nor covered it himself. And to add one bad error on top of the first one , he didn't even waste a few seconds like proper streetwise keepers . He actually looked like he was eager to give Gabon the chance to take the free kick quickly, to our disadvantage ! The other thing is our defenders always seem to know only to clear a ball within our own half - instead of kicking the ball into the opposite half , any place that will take the Gabonese a few extra seconds to attack us again ! El Hamdaoui can terrorise any team's defence - he NEEDS to be the captain in future. He's fast, clever , strong on the ball and always looks the danger man. We also need a defence that doesn't concedes free kicks in dangerous places. We need some experience on field to rein in the panic-induced simple errors we keep committing.
after the Olympic games 2012 we will get a good new team with barrada, labyad, bergdisch, feddal and fettouhi... the future looks good despite our early exit and i bealive that gerets need time to get the full potetial of the team... if we get a new coach with new methods and playeng style, it will take long time before we will get anywhere.. i bealive in gerets and the team.
farahate. I'm not embarassed to be moroccan. I just know that our footballers don't play with 100% and we don't have a keeper. Even benatia who's a great defender didn't give 100%.
we so embarassed to say we are morocans now ,because of the low level of footballers and managements that deal with the national side ,what a joke !
El hamdaoui to fiorentina!!! Please no more chamakh or hadji, because they're not fit to shine his shoes.
Like I said before the can. We can easily get eliminated in the 1st round because of lemyaghri. The sad thing is the olympic goalkeeper is horrible too. I think Amsif is our best option right now and he's got one thing going for him, he's not lemyaghri
kantari was the worst player maybe he should try golf it would be better for him
the best players in that morocco side are al arabi ,belhinda ,and adil hermach is number 1 well played adil ...... and the worst player is lamyagri ,can anyone please tell this guy that goal keeping is the last job he should do !
the goal keeper is a complete joke to the moroccan team ,yet again because of his mistakes we suffer again ,plus some horrible deffending and a captain who is asleep we just not good enough 1
Another thing is that we will drop down hard in the FIFA ranking and then we will get a bad seed for the 2013 AFCON qual.
It wud help little if we won against Niger.
Rafik, you're right. That freekick everyone new was going in. I could see 'el t3ra', it was obvious. Besides everyone knows that if you give a team 15 or 20 chances, they're going to score one, and when we were winning that's what we did. We stopped attacking and just kicked long balls. But I think you're right, if hadji hadn't missed the one on one with the keeper and chamakh hadn't missed his chances we wouldn't be going out. I think there is no one saying lemyaghri should stay, and if gerets let's him play against niger than he doesn't really care.
Bros, i'll lay out the problems with the team.
I watch the premier league week in week out. The organisation is in a different woirld then what we saw with Morocco.
When you have a lead against a pacy team, you do not commit your fullbacks the way we did. Kaddouri was caught out too many times. There was no need to leave gaps there. Gerets should have instructed him to stay back but he didn't. We also played too high up after winning which is again suicide against a fast team.
Now onto the players- this should be the last time we start with Chamakh, Hadji and Lanyaghri.
Now that El hamdaoui has moved club he should be our no1 striker. El Arabi also worked hard, when he came off Morocco didn't see the ball. Hadji didn't do nothing the entrire match and if he scored the sitter against Tunisia we wouldn't be going home.
Lamyaghri- the worst keeper, so unreliable, have you seen a keeper faint when the ball comes to him then it just hits off his leg. Amsif will be no.1 from now.
-Chamakh- cannot score and also didn't work the tunisia back line.
- Kantari- would someone tell me why he was played over El Kaoutari. The tunisia player made him look a fool for his goal.
-Basser- did ok considering he was injured.
-Amrabat- wow this guy is really bad, i'm suprised no one is on his back. WHen the ball came to him he kept fouling the players trying to turn away from them. He did this 4-5 times. Once you know what you are doing is a foul YOU STOP! He is not a clever player because that cost us posession so many times.
Luck- we were unlucky ths tournament. If basser wasn't injured maybe he wouldn't have headed that throw in back into the box like alloui did. Alloui should have headed it off for a corner- idiot.
-Assaidi injured- probably our biggest threat attacking, so unlucky we was out.
It is hard to play real football in the ACN, the pitches have pot holes, the opponents foul like animals and go unpunished, the pitches are dry so passing football isn't possible.
Morocco with Labyad, Barrada, Amsif, El Hamdaoui, El Kaoutari and Assaidi in the starting 11 is a team on another leve.
Btw- I hate lamyaghri so much, that freekick where did he direct the wall to block? He left the entire goal open. He must have an IQ of 60
Brother Nabil, thanx for the dua - i nearly burst out laughing !!! They really do frustrate us long suffering fans. What really upsets me most is that they just fall apart the minute they concede a goal. The heads drop and it seems like they're just waiting for the final whistle . U would think that knowing that elimination is guaranteed on losing a match. that they would attack until the last second . But do they ?
wa safi fadiw ou salina morocco bye bye. maybe in 2015 since we are host but they better come up with a good players only in morocco period. plz no shikhat from europe
