(BBC) Morocco and Montpellier midfielder Younes Belhanda was named France's Young Player of the Year on Monday.
He lost out to Lille's Eden Hazard for the main Player of the Year prize, the Belgian also won the award last year.
It is Belhanda's second prize of the season, after being named France's African Player of the Year last week.
Players and coaches in France's top two divisions vote for the awards which are handed out by the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP).
There was also recognition for the Cameroon duo of Henri Bedimo and Nicolas Nkoulou, as both were included in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year, alongside Belhanda.
Bedimo and 22-year-old Belhanda have helped Montpellier to the verge of a first ever French League title.
They are three points clear of Paris St-Germain, going into the final weekend of the season.
Nkoulou has impressed in defence for Marseille this season despite them only managing to finish in mid-table.
Kassim Abdallah from the Comoros Islands, Guinea's Abadoulaye Sadio Diallo, Cape Verde's Ryan Mendes as well as Algeria duo Fethi Harek and Karim Ghilas were all included in the Ligue 2 Team of the Season.

A dramatic injury-time goal from Karim Aït-Fana gave Montpellier a 1-0 win over Lille on Sunday that took the Ligue 1 leaders to within a point of their first ever French league title.”

(CAFOnline.com) Moroccan outfit MAS Fes find themselves with a tall mountain to climb when they visit their Egyptian counterparts Zamalek in this Sunday’s Orange CAF Champions League 1/8th finals return leg. The 2011 Ornage CAF Confederation Cup holders lost 2-0 at home in the first leg to score at least twice without reply in Cairo to take the game to a shootout. MAS manager Rachid Toaussi told Cafonline.com that he told his charges there's nothing called impossible in football, and that they can reverse their home loss and produce on the tournament's biggest comebacks.
Cafonline.com: How do you see the match this weekend considering you are 2-0 down from first leg?
Taoussi: There's nothing called impossible in football. We made lots of ridiculous mistakes in the first leg, and besides we weren't lucky in that game. In addition to that my players are exhausted. We had played more than 85 competitive games in barely a year and half. We'll do our best not to repeat these mistakes and hope that we are a bit lucky this time. And who knows we might be the ones who will be smiling at the end. We came here to win.
Cafonline.com: But it won't be easy to beat a team like Zamalek at home?
Taoussi: I didn’t say it's going to be easy, but we will do our best. I told the players to follow the tracks of our compatriots Raja Casablanca who reversed a similar score to qualify over Zamalek 6 years ago in the Arab Champions League. I know my players will do anything to get a win and the board promised them mouth watering rewards if they pull off the win that will see us through.
Cafonline.com: How are your preparations going?
Taoussi: We had our regular games in the Moroccan Championship and we’ll have a couple of training sessions in Cairo. I believe my boys are ready and focused on this game.
Cafonline.com: Are you missing any players for this match ?
Taoussi: Samir Zekroumi is suspended and he did not come with us to Cairo. But our first choice goalkeeper Anas Zniti is back from injury and fit for the game. Also our start striker Abdel Hady Halhoul served his match suspension and will be ready to lead our strike force.
Cafonline.com: What will you tell your players before the game?
Taoussi: I will tell them nothing is impossible in football. We’ll play without any pressure and have to remain calm from the first whistle till the very end. The players have to remain focused and determined to win, and make use of the empty stands in their favor. We can do it.

(FIFA.com) Rodney Marsh and Stan Bowles are rightly regarded as club legends at Queens Park Rangers, but judging by the direction Adel Taarabt is heading, he may one day find himself being spoken about by supporters in the same hushed tones.
A veritable crowd-pleaser, the Moroccan playmaker’s spectacular goals, defence-splitting passes and remarkable dribbling skills have turned him into a great favourite of the Loftus Road faithful over the past three seasons. Outstanding last term, he suffered a disappointing start to the 2011/12 campaign, but has since regained his form at just the right moment.
“I didn’t have the best start to the season, that’s true. I was on the point of being transferred, but it didn’t happen in the end,” the Fes native told FIFA.com. “Even though I can always do better, now I can definitely say that I’m back to my best. I scored against Tottenham and Arsenal, and I feel I’ve generally improved my game over the last few matches,” he said.
A player capable of virtuoso performances, Taarabt scored 19 goals and set up a further 16 during QPR’s successful promotion push last season. His then manager Neil Warnock made no attempt to hide his pleasure at managing to retain the services of the midfield maestro.
“It’s a fantastic achievement for the club to hang on to him. We’re delighted that he’s staying. We desperately needed a player capable of winning big games, and that’s exactly what he is,” said the experienced supremo.
From Lens to London
Often as impetuous off the pitch as he is skilful on it, Taarabt has a forceful personality that has not always done him favours in the past, his first season as a professional at Lens in 2006 being a case in point. Following an altercation with one of his team-mates in a reserve match, he left the pitch while the game continued around him, immediately drawing the curtain on his time in France and precipitating his move to England.
“I have nothing but excellent memories of my spell at Lens. I spent seven years at the club, making some good friends and working with great coaches. I learned a huge amount there,” recounted Taarabt, with no bitterness in his voice. “Then I got the opportunity to come to Tottenham and play in the Premier League, which is currently the best in the world, in my opinion. I jumped at the chance,” he continued.
Loaned out to Spurs, who wasted no time in signing him on a permanent basis, Taarabt struggled to establish a place in the London club’s starting XI. When QPR offered him regular playing time, the decision to make the short trip westwards was quickly made, signalling the start of a fruitful if sometimes agitated partnership between the North African midfield man and the then promotion-chasing outfit.
But the negative incidents in which he has been involved, such as the speculation surrounding his future earlier this season, or his much-publicised walkout during a 6-0 loss to Fulham, have generally been forgiven by fans mesmerised by his highly impressive displays. “I do have quite a strong personality, but it’s just during games that it tends to come out. Away from the pitch, I’m actually quite easy-going,” he said.
Named the Championship's best player in 2010/11 as well as Arab Player of the Year for 2011, Taarabt would willingly trade in the individual awards he has earned thus far in exchange for helping his club to secure their Premier League status.
“Of course I would. I’m going to do everything in my power to help the club to avoid the drop, and it would be wonderful if we could manage it,” he said, adding, “I really hope I can continue my Premier League adventure with QPR. The best possible outcome for me would be to stay at the club.”
International impasse
Taarabt’s relationship with the Moroccan national side has been even more turbulent. Boasting a record of ten caps and three goals, Taarabt first caused a stir at international level in June 2011, by turning his back on the team after being informed that he would not start a key match against Algeria.
Having subsequently buried the hatchet with the coaching staff, he went on to inspire his country to a 3-1 win over Tanzania in October, a result that qualified them for the 2012 CAF Africa Cup of Nations. The anticipated happy ending did not materialise, however, as the Atlas Lions were eliminated at the group stage of the continental competition.
“I don’t think we were ready for the tournament. It was extremely hot, and the state of the pitches didn’t help the style we were trying to play. We fought hard, though. Maybe we were guilty of thinking it was going to be easy, when it was anything but easy. It was still a great experience for a player like me, still only 22,” said the attacking midfielder.
This failure would also lead to a complete breakdown in the relationship between Moroccan national coach Eric Gerets and Taarabt, unhappy about being omitted from recent squads. “I don’t get on very well with Gerets. I still love my country, and I still want to represent it, but I can’t see me playing for the national team while this current coach is in charge,” he said.
On Sunday 13 May, Taarabt will instead be fully focused on the domestic task at hand, that of beating title-chasing Manchester City, and saving QPR from relegation in the process. And if he can help the club to attain those goals, the young Moroccan will be one step closer to achieving legendary status in the eyes of supporters.

(Insidefutbol) Montpellier supremo Louis Nicollin has slapped a minimum asking price of at least €30M on Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain target Younes Belhanda.
The attacking midfielder has been one of Montpellier’s most impressive performers this year and, regardless of whether Rene Girard’s men win this season’s Ligue 1, the south coast club want him to remain for the next campaign.
Nicollin is battling to keep Montpellier’s top performers, with defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and striker Olivier Giroud also attracting significant attention.
And Belhanda has most recently been linked with Carlo Ancelotti’s Paris Saint-Germain, who could bid to keep the 22-year-old in France, and English Premier League giants Liverpool, whose manager Kenny Dalglish is believed to have watched the schemer in action recently.
But to take Belhanda from the Stade de la Mosson, big, big money will be needed – especially as Champions League qualification strengthens Montpellier’s hand.
"With Belhanda, if we are offered €30M or €40M, he’ll be holding up a big scarf and he’ll leave", said Nicollin.
"But, he is a good player and we’ll talk about it again in two years."
Belhanda is under contract with Montpellier until 2014 and has made 28 appearances in Ligue 1 this season.
Along the way he has scored 12 goals and clocked up six assists.

(Supersport.com) Guinea football federation on Friday cancelled a friendly match earlier scheduled for August 15 against Morocco.
No reasons were given for the reversal, but Supersport.com source at the body said the Syli National received a better offer from the United States soccer national team for an international friendly which could probably hold at the same date but the choice of venue is yet to be reached.
This is not the first time an African team is backing off from a friendly match arrangement with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in recent times.
Africa’s reigning champions Zambia pulled out of an earlier friendly schedule with the Lions of Atlas.
Guinea are pitted against Egypt, Zimbabwe and Mozambique in Group G of the 2014 World Cup qualifying set for early next month.

(Sky Sports) QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt says he is desperate to help the club stay up this season to repay the faith shown in him by manager Mark Hughes.
The controversial Moroccan struggled to make an impact following Rangers' promotion to the Premier League under former boss Neil Warnock, losing the captaincy to Joey Barton and falling down the manager's pecking order.
He spent November away from the club on extended leave in France, having been heavily linked with a January move to Paris St Germain which failed to materialise.
Resurgence
The 22-year-old has since enjoyed a resurgence following Hughes' arrival in January, scoring important goals against Arsenal and Tottenham.
The Hoops head into their final game of the season at Manchester City two points clear of the drop zone and Taarabt is determined to help his side avoid relegation to repay the belief Hughes has shown in him.
"I was in France for two months after the season started. I told (the club) I would look after myself in France. That is what I have come back from," he told The Times.
"But when Mark came in, it was different. He said he would never tell me off if I lost the ball, because he wanted me to produce some magic for the team.
"People respect him. He has changed me.
"I will give everything for someone who I feel is supporting me. I want to stay up for Mark."
Taarabt believes steering QPR clear of relegation this season would be the "greatest achievement" of Hughes' career, insisting winning the Premier League as a player at Manchester United would not match it.
"We are a normal team, but with so many big personalities. That is why it has been a difficult year," he said.
"And that is why, if we stay up, it will be the best job Mark Hughes could ever do.
"He could go to United and win the league and it would not be the same as keeping QPR up. This would be his greatest achievement."
Criticism
Taarabt drew criticism from Joey Barton, who replaced him as captain, earlier in the season when the midfielder accused him of "not working hard enough" to make the most of his talent and suggested he had a tendency "to sulk".
But he insists he has no issue with the skipper, adding: "I don't have a problem with Joey Barton at all. I just play.
"What he said didn't upset me. He is a strong character but so am I. I am quiet, but I am strong."

Souf- what part of miami?. I used to live there in the 80's near biscayne. Now i'm in orlando
lmao hahah nadir.. I live in miami they have a lot of beautiful girls here too lol but anyway if morocco made it to WC I will be goign there especially Rio De Janiro. but let's not get hope up because they have disappointed us before. and with this squad i don't see its going anywhere.
I think gerets his defenitly getting fired after loosing gambia and ivory coast... we neeed ZAKI BACK NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. FOR ANOTHER FREAKING WC and i wanna go to brazil in WC inchaalah damn it lol and be with beautiful brazilian women :)) lol
We just need a winner coach, a coach who had win inernational tournaments or league title . i live in germany and gerets was coach in a club here in the bundesliga he was terrible.....and lamy is too old for the NT, I dont understand why can people say that he is the right man for this job.....we must took the players with facts and.
No way they'll beat gambia 3-0 in gambia. That'll be 1-1 and ivory coast will be 2-0 for Ivory coast. This team is very weak
HERE IS MY BOLD PREDICTIONS
MAROC 3 GAMBIA 0
MAROC 1 IVORY COAST 1
I THINK IF GERETS DOSENT WIN BOTH GAMES THEY ARE GOING TO FIRE HIM.
THEN TAARABT WILL RETURN FOR THE FINAL 4 MATCHES IN 2013.
Most famous goalkeeper. Next year he'll get best dressed hopefully:) ahahahahahahahahahaha, omg that's hilarious. I almost forgot about that part! Most famous, really? How many clubs want to sign lemyaghri?
Nabil- So???? Gerets doesn't care, i'll prove it. He didn't choose taarabt and he's our best player, why? has el ahmadi and hermach done better this season, NO!. Secondly, If lemyaghri is the best than perhaps you're not being fair. Because zniti desreves a call up way before lemyaghri. ZNITI is just as good as lemyahgri. Likewise, I would take kouha or amsif in a heart beat. BUT LEMYAGHRIHE IS A BIG PROBLEM!!! No team can succeed with a goalkeeper that let's in freekicks from 30 meters. NONE! So, sit back and watch hijm make blunder afet blunder, and you can make excuses, for someone who is a horrible keeper
I agree with you nabil.. it may not be the best pick but they will play from there heart atleast because they are from botola and guys theyre not that bad
Curve once again you don't know bettter than one of the best coach in the world and lamy voted most famous keeper in africa helloo wake up??.. yes it is sad but we got nobody that is better than lamyaghri in morocco or outside morocco.. the only thing im afraid of is that lamyaghri is not good with long shots so therefore is defenders job to not let that happen.. and ppl more relax with gambia that ivory coast actually im more worry about gambia than ivory coast is not the same used to be but still strong n i still don't like how he pick striker from raja his sucks but than again i am wydadi fan but youll never know he may be the beast on NT cuz he will play from his heart of love of his country just like BASSER im sure you guys remember him he was very bad in botola but when coach henry mechelle put him on NT team basser was a beast scoring unbelievable.. so let's hope for something better i don't like gerets pick but i still think it's better pick than last time with chamakh and hadji they're out i feel relieve there time is up and bye bye
unbelievable! Again lemyaghri. What a joke
Goalkeepers: Nadir Lamyaghri (WAC Casablanca, Morocco), Issam Badda (FUS Rabat, Morocco), Aziz El Kinani (MA Tetouan, Morocco).
Defenders : Michael Chrétien (Bursaspor, Turkey), Ayoub El Khaliki (WAC Casablanca, Morocco), Rachid Soulaimani (Raja Casablanca, Morocco), Zakarya Bergdich (Lens, France), Mehdi Benatia (Udinese, Italy), Abdelfattah Boukhriss (FUS Rabat, Morocco), Ismail Benlamaalam (Raja Casablanca, Morocco), Salaheddine Saidi (FAR Rabat, Morocco), Mustapha Mrani (MAS Fès, Morocco), Samir Zekroumi (MAS Fès, Morocco).
Midfielders : Issam El Adoua (Vitoria Guimaraes, Portugal), Karim El Ahmadi (Feyenoord Rotterdam, Holland), Adil Hermach (Al-Hilal, Saudi Arabia), Houssine Kharja (Fiorentina, Italy), Nordin Amrabat (Kayserispor, Turkey), Ismail Aissati (Ajax Amsterdam, Holland), Younes Belhanda (Montpellier, France), Mbark Boussoufa (Anzi Makhachkala, Russia), Chemseddine Chatibi (MAS Fès, Morocco), Oussama Assaïdi (Heerenveen, Holland), Abdelaziz Barrada (Getafe, Spain).
Strikers: Yassine Salhi (Raja Casablanca, Morocco), Youssef El Arabi (Al-Hilal, Saudi Arabia).
Who will score for us? Most of those players will not work against africans, plain and simple! We will tie both games
Lamyaghri
Bassir benatia Adoua Bergdich
Belhanda kharja
Boussofa Berrada Assaidi
El arabi
subs:aissati
amrabat
hermach
Sorry, I am not too familiar with most of the local moroccan players selected. Does anyone here knows who's our other strikers apart from El Arabi?
PS. I cannot believe he did not pick Taarabt . He is one of my favourite players along with Assaidi and Belhanda! Taarabt has been excellent since he returned from ANC in january. Gerets said that Taarabt lost focus before the final game against Niger...well who wouldn't? Morocco were already eliminated and if he started with Taarabt in the first two games against Tunisia and Gabon then he would have made a big difference.
but good news yaya toure there best player went off injured against qpr and hopefully he wont play against us.
The team selected is good enough to beat Gambia, but iam nearvus about if they can handle a team like Cote de ivoire... half the team is from botola and they dont play on a high level, but i know that we havent got other players... But it makes me mad that he havent picked Taarabt, just let him play against cote de ivoire and he wont create bad vibe...
gk: lamy

No one "hates" Lamyaghri. They are just saying he's not good enough to be a starter on the national team. And I agree.
all i know gerets need to pick half of wydad players and put them on NT i know damn sure they will do better job than chamakh and hadji n rest of them
NABIL YOUR SO EMOTIONAL. WINNING A TROPHY ISNT AS IMPORTANT AS WINNING GAMES FOR YOUR NATIONAL TEAM. HES HAD HIS CHANCE TIME TO MOVE ON.
nabil- lemyaghri is horrible. Even tunisia's chan team scored two goals against him, another thing NO QUALITY TEAM HAS EVER SHOWN INTEREST IN LEMYAGHRI, none, zero, not one, not in the 2nd or even 3rd divisions of europe!!!! Coincidence? I think not. Even kouha played in romania, even fegrouch who is nothing special has moved meanwhile lemyaghri hasn't. Why? he's horrible. Look at the the freekicks he let in, in the CAN12
Curve or miami because both of those names r you lol curve i remember you said you live in miami hmm another miami talking crap about lamy what coincides??? lmao and if lamy is old well guess what he bring home a trophy you hater.. wondering why moroccan r nothing but hates we will never succeed becuz of bad mentality we have it's all aobut im better than you and his better than me or i will b more classy than old that stupidality and curve you are one of them and i can smell your hate on lamy.. to: lamyaghri may allah protect you from evils and evil eyes la hawla walla qowaton ila bilah aaleyhe aadim.
WHY ISNT IAJOUR CALLED UP?
HES NOT EVEN ON THE LOCAL TEAM. WHATS UP WITH THAT.
LAMY THE MOST POPULAR PLAYER CAUSE HES THE OLDEST LMAO.
HES AN OK GOALIE JUST NOT GOOD FOR A NATIONAL TEAM
Curve: Me delusional? Coming from you, I will take it as a compliment ... because times and again, you have shown to many that you dont know much about the game and everything that surrounds it.
The trophy belongs to Lemy....and it rewards him for being the most Popular player in Africa.
Have a little self respect and decency by taking your hate somewhere else. This is a space to encourage and to constructively criticize. If you are on a personal vendetta against this or that player...I ask that you do a better job reviewing what you post.
I know that we all enjoy freedom of expression...and I ask that you (Curve) don't abuse it (because so far, you have drawn 2 much attention for your hate).
Oh & One last thing:
Mabrouk Lemiaghry....You honored each and every one of us.
Curve once again open your eyes and stop being hateful on lamy for real.. he was voted for educated ppls that his the most popular player in africa?? did you get that part?? it's whole africa including tunisia egypt cameroon etc.. so think about it just for a min this guy must b good and you should b proud of that if your morocccan but for some reason somthing tells me your not moroccan?? not to judging on you but something weird not adding up btw you and lamy?? you have all the negative thing about lamy?? instead of being happy for him briging the trophy. seriously curve come out with reality and educate your self were being having the same convo for almost a year now lol let's leave him lamy alone n talk about the others and what we need for future NT if you r moroccan n plz don't hestitate if your not let us know who you are. n we r still welcoming whoever your from.
Slim are you delusional what great saves did he make in the CAN12?? I could have stopeed the free kicks that went in against us. What great saves did he make???? Like what? Name one important thing he did in CAN12 or Qualification that saved us?
The record doesn't lie. Before lemyagjri we got to the final of can 04', with the same players and lemyaghri we didn't qualify for the world cup. The only difference is the loser lemyaghri. Ask a neutral, who doesn't support wydad or is from casa. If he's any good
Curve: Do yourself and Moroccan soccer a favor by leaving Moroccan Soccer alone. Again and FYI...it is false and inflaming comments like yours that pollute the Moroccan soccer atmosphere. We will never advance with your kind...
Also, if you say that Lemy sucks....I personally want to condemn your lack of gratitude for the many (more than average) saves he came up with throughout with the national team.
For now, enjoy the show: Lemy isi the most popular African soccer player...whether you like it or not !!!!
CURVE abviously you got the whole world against you when it comes to lamyaghri plz don't say harsh thing abotu him he has done good he has saved some crazy balls but im not going against your opinion i do believe lamy is not the same he used to be but again he is over 35 now his getting old and yet still willing too keep for his country you bring amsif his going to keep for himself not for his country he doesn't have one.. bono may be diff so hopefully will see good from him and again curve you should congratulate lamyaghri for all the hard work he did for your country and thank you lamyaghri your the best but it's time for you to stop and le'ts find these youngster to take over and become just like lamyghri
To whom it may concern- Lemyaghri is a horrible keeper. I would take wydad 2nd keeper over lemyaghri at least he plays smart. We've already talked about this and so the nay sayers can mark my words. As long as that loser(lemyaghri) along with chamakh, hadji and the 04' generation are in the team morocco can forget football. I heard kaoutari, amsif are going to london is this true?
i dont watch the botola so i dont know how he plays for wydad but there is now doubt that he was terrible in the cup of nations. what curve says is a bit extreme but he has a point. i dont really know any of the other keepers so i dont care if hes our number 1
yeah i watched the game wydad VS raja what a game lol wydad with no fan still beat raja with their head high lol and lamyaghri was doing great job im imazed about him to bad his is getting kinda old n we have no good keeper at all except bono but still not good enough for NT and please whoever here don't talk about amsif he is sucks and once again congratulation lamyaghri im happy for you. greeting from agadir
looks like curve is hiding right r just burning himself cuz he hate lamyaghri lol anyway to lamyaghri may allah bless you and im proud of you you have been excelent in every way good job lamyaghri and congratulation :)
slim you know i've been trying to tell curve from a long time the problem is not the keeper the problem is the lack of whole players..lamy he is 35 but no matter what he has done good for NT and he is still the best keeper and most populated watch this link i found
Slim, i understand what u are saying... for me the only reson i want to change Lamy, is his age.. he is 35 and we need something new in the team.. i want to see Amsif some more, if he do not impress, then lamy should stay for sume time until we find the right keeper...
this link is for the few detractors who are trying to sabotage the development of the national team by over exagerating their critics towards a few players. It is exactly these type of critics that will keep us further away from moving forward....for now, click on this link and appreciate what this Moroccan ambassador accomplished.
IN YOUR FACE !

I think we will reach the final and then Egypt will win it
we gonna win this arab nation cup.. you know why?? cuz they will b no chamakh and no hadji :)
DC- you're right about beating gambia forst then i.c. It's going to take momentum because right now there is no belief. Second I think if gerets gets rid of hadji, chamakh, lemyaghri etc. You will see the young generation become more confident
drogbas has only scored 11 goals in all compititions this season. the only good games hes played were against barca. i think doumbia and yaya toure are there only good players. gervinho is the worst winger in the world when it comes to goal scoring, coming from an arsenal fan. if we dont beat gambia away then its unlikely we will beat ivory. but if we beat gambia away we then have ivory at home in marrakech which has a great atmosphere, ithink we can win as long as we take our chances infront of goal, granted thats something that we never do.
Essa- I think you mean bourkadi. From what I heard he hasn't developed since he went to casablanca, and has become occupied with other things like drinking and women
i meant, if Amsif plays good in in the Toulon and Olympics we have ourself a new keeper.
If Amsif plays good in in the Touloun and Olympics we have ourself a new coach.. i cant see gerets using lamy, with the age he has and + he have had his time and things need to change... i think it will be Amsif...
By the way, where is this Boukhari guy that saved nearly all Italys penalties in the 2005 world cup? he was insane that time
Souf- Drogba isn't the problem. We can defend him. The problem is like you said our keeper is horrible.
beating Ibory coast will b almost impossible to beat yet they said drogba is getting old but i think drogba just became more stronger i watched chelsea play all the time this guy he is fast fast fast and can shoot abviously benatia will b responsible for drogba but again drogba is to fast for benatia and than when he shoots where is the keeper that going to block the ball don't tell me lamyaghri will block it because lamyaghri is sucks at long shots so the only think i can hope for better is atleast a tie with ivory coast but chances r very slim. morocco with this is not going nowhere but morocco tha's it.. real talk and not trying to get anyone offended it's the reality of soccer
Shehata showed again why he is a top quality coach. A shame no arab country or european club for that matter has given him a chance. Meanwhile eric gerets is enjoying himself in morocco whith no change or contribution;). Gotta love it
I honestly think the coach pim verbeek is better than eric geret.. I just don't understand why eric will keep same players over and over like lamyaghri and hadji and shamakh these players r the reason why we lost period.
More importantly Shehata is in morocco with al ahly. WE REALLY NEED TO FIND A POSITION FOR THE MAN
Mark my words. Morocco will make it to the 3rd round of the Olympics!
Listin to this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17842327
Veerbeek says that Morocco are at the Olympics to win not just to be there. For you to compare our A team with the Olympics is not fair. We play against teams with europeen style like ourself, thats why you cant use the agument about our ACN history, this is something completely different... This is a complete different group of players in the Olympics, they havent been a part of the ACN so they dont think about that. These a fresh young players who wants to prove themselves on the biggest football scene. But we will play in Toulon and in that tournament, i think it will give us a good indication on our chances in the Olympic Games..
There is no sense of entitlement about our olympic team. I think you're mistaking commitment and confidence with arrogance.Pim verbeek is a good coach, and has no excuse to not at east get to the 2nd round. Now if that's overly ambitious maybe morocco should rethink it's objectives in going to london at all
Curve: this is not a place to take bets ... & if you said that Morocco could easily exit the CAN on the 1st round U were right : I ask you to remember your says and don't jinx our team's preparation. the team was among the best on paper....and they miserably failed!
Let us not forget that and hope that History will not repeat itself.
And for you Essa...i can't be clearer than this: It is thanks to certain people ....and they happen to be people with posts like yours that we JINX ourselves. U keep believeing that our team is better than Japan, Honduras .. and I tend to believe that these teams are strong and will require us to play them carefuly (not with excess of confidence as your post suggests)
One thing the CAN should have taught us is to no longer loook at games on paper. Soccer is much bigger than that and you all know it.
I agree with you when you say that it is OK to have ambitions...however I refuse posts like yours projecting a false sense of entitlement. What do U know about the youth programs in Afirca....how could U jump the gun and state at such preliminary level that we will lead the pack in the futur. 2 many fallacies in your way of thinking. Not good for Moroccan soccer...as it is not pertinent/constructive analysis of what's going on.
Cheers mates!
slim, before the CAN I was teh only one here that said we would be eliminated. Go back adn check the comment log. I said, we could "easily exit" in the 1st round. But the Olympics we have a very manageable group
Slim, what the hell a your taking about? jinx really? The players know that they have to beat this group and advance with Spain, cuz we got the quality and a better team than Japan and Honduras... We will play on good grass and best is that we will play Spain last, that means that the last match can be a match that dosent really matter... If u look at the players we have, its okay to have ambitions cuz with the player Morocco have/and will have its a matter of time before they could be one of the best in Africa.
Souf, its for players under 23, so there will be some A team player and the rest will be our olympic squad.
@dc...I agree, that's why all games should be carefully prepared.
@ Curve...It's comments like yours (among other than things) that lead to an early exit of the CAN.
im so comfused this olyampic london is that for adult morocco or U21??
im guessing honduras is a pretty physical team, japan is probobly the opposite but have alot of good flair and technical players. and then theres spain. i think its a pretty hard group, apparently taarabt wants to play but i dont think we should change the team too much
Confidence is important. If pim verbeek after 2 years can't get morocco past the first round. Then morocco should focus on women's hockey and verbeek should try something other than football. This is the weakest group in the olympics, I couldn't ask for a better group and morocco has the talent, labyad alone is an amazing talent without others like taarabt, fetouhi, bidawi etc.
I'M SO HAPPY WE GET PLAY SPAIN.
@ OLD TRAFFORD.
Essa, DC & Curve...all I can tell you is that it is comments like yours that will jinx our chances and give everyone the false sense of superiority. The Group is Strong. All these teams qualified in their respective continents. No team is weak...and no team is too strong! We still have a lot of work ahead of us....especially that the public opinion wants to incorporate players that never played in that squad (taarabt...). So have a little respect for the preparation and don't ruin it by making hasty generalisations and under estimating every other team.
we play good agaisnt any nation,as long as it is in europe
yeees!! we are gonna advance, but if we finish 2, we will probebly meet Brazil if they finish 1... but the best group we could get... taarabt,belhanda,barrada,labyad,benatia,Zouhal,fettouihi,bergdich... i bealeve we can get really far because its in europe and we play very good against euopeen countrys
i was hoping for a match london seeing as its the london olympics. i think its gonna be tough against spain and japan.
Very easy group for the olympics. Morocco should be through to the 2nd round of the olympics. JAPAN, SPAIN AND HONDURAS
Yes we need Taarabt in our team.. I wtached him yesterday agaisnt Spurs where he was man of the match, and agaisnt Arsenal he was also man of the match... But his attitude can be a problem, and thats not just Gerets fault but Taarabt needs to play in the WCQ cuz we need our best players to make it to Brazil
How can taarabt not be called up but chamakh selected?? Beef or no beef, Gerets knows our best players are taarabt and benatia. How many scoring opportunities did taarabt give to chamakh and hadji in the ACN
Well 8 years of failing is enough.
Its different with Chamakh and kharja.. they have been 2 of our best players since 2004..kharja is our captain and chamakh have been our best attacker ever since he failed in Arsenal ... and they dont play in the B team like Elhamdaoui... But i dont think they should be called up.. our new captain should be Benatia
I DONT THINK TAARABT IS GOING TO BE CALLED UP TO THE NATIONAL TEAM. THIS BEEF BETWEEN HIM AND GERETS IS DISGRACEFUL TO THE TEAM. I HOPE HE DOSENT END UP LIKE MIDO OF EGYPT.
You're right essa. Only players tht play regularly should be called. Therefore there is no way chamakh and kharja should be called up, because they don't play
Yes I want to see El Kabir also in the NT and see how he fits in our style.. But El Hamdaoui needs to play games or he would not get a call up because it cant be fair for the other players to let Hamdaoui play who havent played at all this season, it will create bad vibe between the players.. after sommer i think we will see him again
We have elhamdaoui and el kabir both need to be called up, but i see what your saying about taarabt, I'll take anyone over chamakh!
its good that we have african cup of nations already next year... and this time, it will be on big stadiums with good grass cuz its in South Africa.. I cant only get better then what we have seen in past couple of ACN's... I have thought about letting Taarabt being our striker on the NT.. he is strong has a good shot, and he can create chances alone, and also he dosent have to defend.. I think it would be good to give it a try...
I think el kaddouri will have problems in his position we have alot of quality players there and he really has not been tested
We have very good players, we just need a few changes, a keeper, and a good striker will be a good start. Let's not get carried away
ignorance and nothing but ignorance... now india is catching up so lidikom aalaa zo&^
keep dreaming guys because it doesn't cost much anyway so why not dream that morocco NT team will make it to WC and why not even Take the WC lol hahahaha
Ifwe do well in the olympics we'll qualify, because next year the team will be old
I dont think he will switch.. we are qualified for the Olympic games in London, who dosent want to be a part of that? and by playing there, he will be locked.
i agree but there is a chance he could choose to play for belgium if we dont get him to play for the first team in an upcoming qualifier.
he shouldnt be called up for the A team, there we have to many good players in his position... his should play with the Olympic team, best for him
i think i read that he opted for morocco. but i get da feeling gerets wont call him to seal the deal
Has el kaddouri opted for Morocco or belgium? If he's opted for belgium i don't see the point in writing about him here.
I don't think gerets his a good coach we need spaniard or english coach forget frenchies or you can just hire me for coach i'll make sure i'll do better job than geret :))) lol
essa defenitely belhanda taarabat and baradda put them all in there n watch these midfield will be strong and will b passing a lot goals
It takes time to build a team that always get new players like Morocco.. We have gotten many quality players, we will have to wait and see how they are going to play with time.. and yeah we could really use a good attacker, we only have good wings and offensive midfielders.. thats bit of a problem...And we have a luxury problem in midfield, who are we gonna play? we have Belhanda,Kharja,Barrada,Taarabt,Boussoufa,Labyad,Carcela,El Kaddouri and Assaidi.. we cant play them all only 4 or 5 at once, and they all could be starters.
we also have el kaddouri el kabir el arabi and many more moroccan leauge players that can play upfront forget chamakh and elhamdaoui there days are over
GERETS NEEDS TO PICK A BETTER TEAM PERIOD. BUT WHO WILL START AS A STRIKER? WE ONLY HAVE THREE PLAYERS TO CHOOSE FROM CHAMACKH ARABI AND EL HAMDOUI
curve for very first time i kinda agree with you lol but yeah we need good players the whole team needs some cleaning i said the only players for sure to keep r belhanda, aissati, benatia, taarabat and maybe bousoufa.. rest of players plz get rid of them and bring out all new players from junior like like barrada and labyad and bono. im sure if they come up with few best players play in botola and add them up im sure morocco will make a better team n yes we will beat ivory coast but if eric keep sticking chamakh and hadji just don't waste your time morocco is loosing again
I totally agree with you essa and i know ivory coast is not same but the problem is NT r they willing to have comfidence to beat ivory caost?? or not?? just like cameroon they doing very bad but when we played them LG CUP and home we still lost against them?? the thing is the players r not confidence enough to get us there they only play good in europe but once they in morocco they play worse that kids play in street.
Personally, I don't think ivory coast has a team. Their defence is poor and they don't have a keeper, but morocco right now has no confidence because we refuse to get rid of players like chamakh, hadji, el kaddouri, basser, kharja, and of course lemyaghri
hicham thats weak to think Ivory Coast is going to WC 2014.. Yaya Youre has stopped for a while, and the other players like drogba, kolo toure are old and Kalou isnt as good as before... They didnt impress me in ACN 12 they had a very easy group... We have a chance if we win all our home games and we a good at home.. so iam confident that we have a chance.
no it's not because we think small is because we have no confidence on NT after so many dissapointement we barelly made it to CAN and now WC yet we have easy teams but the problem stand on ivory coast because they gonna beat every team they gonna face and we prolly will too but we will loose again ivory coast remember this and last last game of the season it will be held in ivory coast do the math?? plain and clear ivory coast ggoing to WC Brazil :(
Well Curve, the team havent been given us the kind of feeling that big things will happen.. W all sthought that the Moroccan team could easyli reach the semi finals or something like that in ACN 12, but again we failed.. they have to prove that they are going somewhere with this team
I think that's the problem, today moroccans think small and feel just qualification is enough. But before, we didn't think that we wanted to do well, it's not a good mentality
pshhh plz just take me to WC i b happy with just that result but ivory coast on the way i don't think we going anywhere not even in africa
I want morocco to go to the world cup and do well, like turkey in 02 or croatia in 98. I don;t want morocco to go just to play and lose. The olympics will show us what we have, if we play well I think qualification is possible
